Finished Project: New Moon Fingerless Gloves v.2

I do believe that I have developed a bit of an obsession issue when it comes to fingerless gloves. They knit up super quick, come in a wide variety of colours, patterns, yarns. And really you can never have enough.

Way back when New Moon hadn't come out yet I knew that I would need to knit myself up the Alice mittens. I cast on the first ones and had already queued these to knit. The only problem was that once I got to the opening for the thumb I was completely stuck. Because I was knitting these using the magic loop method I just couldn't wrap my head around switching from knitting in the round to straight knitting. It wasn't until my mother-in-law gave me a pointer that I figured it out.

Looking back I can't believe I didn't clue in sooner but that's what happens when you knit new patterns for the first time. With each new pattern I am learning so many new things. And making pretty pieces to boot!

Pattern: New Moon Alice Mittens
Yarn: the rest of my Bristol Country Dyeworks Merino Wool in New Moon
Needles: 4 mm using magic loop
Mods: I didn't intend to make any mods, but after finishing the first one I did notice that I messed up the pattern. Instead of following the K3, P2 ribbing to finish off the gloves I obviously did a P3, K2 pattern. Not really sure how I didn’t notice while I was knitting this but I really like how they turned out.

The other thing that I am learning is knitting for my size. Because I'm petite most patterns turn out a bit too big for me. That and I don't always have the right gauge. But I'm slowly learning how to re-do the pattern so that fingerless gloves fit my tiny wrists and I've also discovered that I like my stitches to be a bit tighter on the cast-off.
