Another project done!

I finally finished my Alice Cullen inspired Fingerless Gloves! I am so happy with how they turned out.

The original gloves from the movie:

Not the best picture of Alice, she really looks .. um I guess “padded” is the nicest way to put it, in New Moon but as soon as I saw this picture I just knew that I had to have these fingerless gloves.

The original pattern from Ravelry:

♥ Pattern: New Moon inspired Alice Cullen fingerless mittens by Nancy Fry
♥ Yarn: Bristol County Dyeworks Merino Worsted in New Moon, about 110 yards, but really I have no idea
♥ Needles: US size 7 & US size 8 DPN
♥ Mods: I knit an extra 20 rows in the arm portion

My results:

.

This was my very first project using double pointed needles. I am quite happy with the results. And although the first glove is quite loose where the joins are I knit a little tighter with the second glove. It was extremely awkward at first but I followed some advice from fellow Ravelrs and knit a few rows on straight needles and transferred them to the dpn’s. This helped tons until I got used to the rhythm of knitting this way in the round. I can see now how some people choose to only knit using dpns. I am sure that with more practice my results will be just as good as I knit using straight needles.

The yarn was fantastic. I purchased it on Etsy from Bristol County Dyeworks and would definitely purchase from them again. The skein I purchased was large enough to knit up this pattern with lots left over. I will probably knit up another pair of Alice Cullen inspired gloves but from another pattern I have. This yarn was so pretty when it arrived that I didn’t want to knit it up.
