Last weekend I went to Michaels with Wendy. We went to find a specific item which apparently Michaels doesn't carry and I ended up picking up some yarn that was on sale. I also wanted to buy the specific double pointed needles for the Alice Cullen Fingerless Gloves, but Michaels didn’t have any dpns. Wendy was gracious enough to offer to drive me to a local yarn store to pick up the required needles. I am still learning in this area of knitting and so I just asked the sales lady for the sizes that I need; US 7 & 8. She handed them to me and I quickly paid.
I haven’t had time to start the project but decided today that I would take the plunge and learn to use dpns and then bring the knitting to work to knit on my lunch. I really wanted to have these done for the movie that opens next weekend.
Anyway, after I watched a few clips on YouTube on how to use double pointed needles I got some scrap yarn and then brought out the new bought needles. Right away they seemed a little big and upon actually looking at the case they came in I realized the issue.
They are 7 & 8 mm needles NOT US size needles. Great. Now I need to bring them back and get the right size. And I won’t have lots of time this weekend, so now I might not actually get them knit up in time.
Fail.
