I just spent the past … oh, 6 hours knitting up my first fingerless glove for myself using the pretty red yarn (pictured above) that I bought today on my outing. After trying it on I promptly frogged it.
Sigh.
My first item for myself, and it didn’t turn out. But I am surprisingly ok with that. Although my gauge was what the pattern called for it was too big; so tomorrow I will start again only this time making it a tad bit smaller.
That plus the fact that when I put on the glove it didn’t quite look like the picture. I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong and so I re-read the pattern. This was the first time that I had to pay attention to my rows as well as my stitches and so I assumed that I miscounted somewhere. It wasn’t until I really looked at the repeated part of the pattern that I saw my error.
The pattern called for a repeat of four rows that were an "A row A row B row B row" repeat but what I knit was an "A row B row A row B row" pattern. It worked out ok but wasn’t the same obviously. I like the repeat that the pattern calls for.
p.s. if you look closely below at my signature stamp:the time is now 1:57 am. I am one tired lady and it is time for bed!

I hate it when I make a mistake because I can't read the pattern properly. I have only myself to blame. Hope your next attempt is very successful!
ReplyDeleteI also hope you had a lovely sleep.
