Summer Lovin'

A few weeks ago, while James and I were out for dinner, we talked about what our goals are for this summer. Mine are very simple: I want to relax, actually enjoy the summer and end it with a tan. And to help me achieve these goals I had decided that I want a lounge chair for our balcony. It’s a fairly large balcony as far as Vancouver goes and it gets direct sun during the day. We’ve been in this apartment for about 5 years now and every year I say we should buy some furniture for the balcony so that we can go out and read or eat a light dinner outside, but we just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But this year is the year I am actually getting off my butt and Making Things Happen.

Because we have a rabbit that loves to eat wood, leather and even rubber we are limited in what type of furniture we can have and how much we want to invest in something that could possibly become ruined in a short amount of time.

And because of this I have my sights set on an old fashioned cheap-o lawn chair. You know the kind; every girl growing up in the 80’s had one.

They fold up for easy storage and hopefully Domino won’t want to eat the webbing but if she does it wouldn’t be a big deal. To me this fits the bill perfectly.

Only problem is, I can’t find one. Seriously, I started at Zellers; nope, they only had expensive patio furniture. I tried Sears and the Bay; same thing. I then tried Canadian Tire; no luck.

I don’t get it. Every one of these stores had fancy schmancy “patio furniture” that started at $50. And sure while $50 isn’t that much money, I know that it’s going to get ruined in about 2 days because 1) I have a rabbit and 2) the “patio furniture” is huge and will be rained on.

So I am at a loss on how to find my perfect lawn chair. I have tried eBay but they run around $50 plus shipping.

Although now that I’m waking up early on the weekends I can actually go to garage sales this summer. People have to have lawn chairs still? Right?

Me and my determination to have cheap ass white trash* patio furniture. Geesh.

* and just to clarify ~ I am being sarcastic here. As I said to James "If lawn chairs are good enough for Sookie, they are good enough for me."
