The Finished Project that Wasn't: Purple Felicity

I have wanted to knit myself a hat for awhile now. I've always felt that I have a great head and face to wear hats. And while I don't wear hats that often I thought that I could change things by knitting my own. I've especially wanted a hat to wear out and about on the days when I don't want to wash my hair; or if I'm just having a bad hair day.

I searched Ravlry high and low for hats that I really liked and have quite a few in my queue. The first one I wanted to knit was Felicity; it looked easy enough and I loved all of the pictures.

Problem is that once I knit it up it looked terrible on me. I'm talking hideous folks. My face just isn't one that is complimented by a slouchy hat that lays flat off my head. I couldn't even bring myself to take a picture of it.

So this is my first official pattern that I have knit up that is a total failure in that the finished product is fine; it's just not for me.

And so instead of gifting it to someone, I'm going to frog it and use the yarn to knit up a different type of hat. I did go through my queue and took off any slouchy type hat or beret. Oh well. I am now determined to find the perfect hat for me!

Pattern: Felicity
Yarn: Patons Classic Wool in Royal Purple.
Needles: 3.75mm & 4.5 mm circular
Mods: none

The other thing I wanted to make note of is that the pattern itself was very poorly written. I'm slightly anal when it comes to properly written patterns and I almost wanted to write the creator and give her crap. I mean how hard is it to write a pattern so that people (especially newbies) can understand what the hell you're talking about. Geesh!!
